Richard is a founding member of the House Project.
Doctorate in School Administration, Master of Administration, MFA in Sculpture. Fifty-five plus years in Education, now retired. Spent over Thirty years living in Nome. Been part of Iditarod since the beginning, serving as board president for nine years and a board member twelve years. Served in several roles such as Iditarod Air Force pilot, putting in trails, official photographer (first five years), dog lot cleaner, end of the trail headquarters, as well as running the race twice back in the beginning of the race. Been involved with dogs over fifty five years. Live in Alaska fifty-five years, now snow birding to AZ.

The past several years I have been a part of the Commemorative Air Force and been volunteering at the Airbase AZ in Mesa. I work on and fly on the B-17, B-25, Texan (SNJ), C-47, and Stearman.

Been on the Leonard Seppala House Project LLC Board of Directors for about six years. I started the first Alternative High Schools in Alaska and named it the Leonard Seppala Alternative High School in honor of Leonard

Leonhard Seppala introduced the Siberian Husky breed of dogs to the world of sled dog mushing.
