DEB GLENN
Board Member
Dr. Deb “Danny” Glenn is a board member of the Leonhard Seppala House Project, Inc.,
and also serves as their Director of Development.
I accepted this invitation and have accomplished to-date our phase I objectives to form a
relationship with the City of Nome such that our organization might have their support in
moving the Leonhard Seppala historic house from the City’s secure landfill site to its
permanent location next to the Carrie M. McLain Memorial Museum. Once moved and stabilized, I will oversee team efforts to enter phase II which involves renovating and restoring the house to historic standards while adhering to City ordinances, and with the museum’s help to secure and archive historic artifacts along with actualizing the educational component of what will become the Leonhard Seppala Historic Educational Building. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will dedicate the building to the museum and City of Nome, Alaska.
Phases III and IV comprise two events respectively: welcoming in the team of Leonhard Seppala Siberians who will drive into Nome and to the LSHEB to conclude their Centennial Seppala Expedition from Nenana to Nome in February 2025; and the subsequent Centennial Serum Run Expedition following the same commemorative trail in March, 2025.
I am a long-distance musher who has logged over 25,000 miles with my 60 Alaskan husky sled dogs. My eclectic career path has been in medicine and land development. I have served on many boards of directors and am the founder of two non-profits developed in areas of need. Also included as altruistic endeavors, I have worked with many established
non-profits to help them become successful and thrive. It has been my honor to serve.
Leonhard Seppala introduced the Siberian Husky breed of dogs to the world of sled dog mushing.
